الإسم

 أم كلثوم بنت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم

أمها – رضي الله عنها -  

أم المؤمنين/السيدة خديجة بنت خويلد -رضي الله عنهما-

 ترتيبها بين اخواتها 

الأصحُّ أنَّها الابنة الثَّالثة بين بنات الرَّسول -عليه الصلاة السلام-، فهي أكبر من فاطمة -رضي الله عنها-، وأصغر من زينب ورقية -رضي الله عنهما-؛ لأنَّ رسول الله -صلى الله عليه وسلم- زوَّجها من عثمان بن عفان -رضي الله عنه- وذلك بعد وفاة أختها رقيَّة

زواجها الأول

تزوجها عتيبة بن ابي لهب قبل البعثة، وطلقها ولم يدخل بها، بعدما أنزل الله -تعالى- قوله: (تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ)،[٤] حيث قال لابنيه عُتبة وعُتَيبة: "رأسي من رُؤوسكما حرام إن لم تطلِّقا ابنتي محمد"، وقالت زوجته أمُّ جميل بنت حرب مثل ذلك، حيث كانت رقيَّة قد تزوَّجت من عُتبة وأمُّ كلثوم من عُتَيبة،فطلَّق كل من عُتبة وعُتَيبة بنات الرَّسول رقيَّة وأمُّ كلثوم -رضي الله عنهما-

حدث في نشأتها  

حصرت مع المسلمين في شعب أبي طالب، حيث ظلوا لمدة 3 سنوات، حتى أكلوا أوراق الأشجار حتى يستطيعون العيش، حتى أُنهكت قوة المسلمين من قلة الطعام.

هجرتها  إلى المدينة

استقبل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أم كلثوم وفاطمة وزوجه سودة بنت زمعة _ رضي الله عنهن _ وأسكنهن في داره التي بناها لأهله بعد بناء المسجد النبوي الشريف، وبقيت في بيت أبيها عليه الصلاة والسلام لمدة عامين

زواجها الثاني من عثمان بن عفان - رضي الله عنهما معا 

ولما توفيت رقية، زوج النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عثمان بن عفان أم كلثوم وأصبح عثمان ذو النورين، وكان هذا الزواج في ربيع الاول من سنة ثلاث من الهجرة، وعاشت ام كلثوم عند عثمان ولم تلد له.

وفاتها رضي الله عنها وأرضاها 

في العام التاسع من الهجرة في شهر شعبان توفيت السيدة أم كلثوم رضي الله عنها وأرضاها، وكان عمرها 27 سنة. 

عن أم عطية قالت

 لما ماتت أم كلثوم بنت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: اغسلنها وترًا ثلاثًا أو خمسًا بماء وسدر واجعلن في الآخرة كافورًا أو شيئًا من كافور، فإذا فرغتن فأعلمنني، فلما غسلناها أعطانا حقوه فقال: أشعرنها إياه. وذلك في شهر شعبان وأنزلها في قبرها علي والفضل وأسامة بن زيد -رضي الله عنهم-، وطلب أبو طلحة الأنصاري -رضي الله عنه- من الرَّسول -صلى الله عليه وسلم- أن يشاركهم في ذلك، فأذن له.

حزن الرسول على وفاة ابنته أم كلثوم

 ظهر الحزن على الرَّسول -عليه الصلاة السلام- عند وفاة ابنته أم كلثوم، فقد أشار إلى النِّسوة كيفيَّة العناية بها وبتغسيلها، فكان كلُّ ذلك بتوجيهٍ منه -صلى الله عليه وسلم- من خلف الباب ثُمَّ جلس أمام القبر وعيناه تذرفان الدموع على وفاتها

Her Name

Umm Kulthum, daughter of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace

Her birth order among her sisters

The most accurate account is that she was the third daughter of the Messenger – peace and blessings be upon him – so she was older than Fatima – may God be pleased with her – and younger than Zaynab and Ruqayya – may God be pleased with them both – Because the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) married her to Uthman ibn Affan (may God be pleased with him) after the death of her sister Ruqayyah.

Her First Marriage

She was married to Utaybah ibn Abi Lahab before the Prophethood, but he divorced her before consummating the marriage. This occurred after God revealed the verse: “Perish the hands of Abu Lahab and perish he!” [4] He said to his two sons, Utbah and Utaybah, “I will disown you if you do not divorce the daughters of Muhammad.” His wife, Umm Jamil bint Harb, said the same. Ruqayyah had been married to Utbah, and Umm Kulthum to Utaybah. Both Utbah and Utaybah divorced the Prophet’s daughters, Ruqayyah and Umm Kulthum (may God be pleased with them).

The Events in Her Upbringing

She was confined with the Muslims in the valley of Abu Talib, where they remained for three years. They were forced to eat tree leaves to survive, and the Muslims were weakened by the lack of food.

Her Migration to Medina

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) welcomed Umm Kulthum, Fatimah, and his wife Sawdah bint Zam'ah (may God be pleased with them all) and housed them in the home he had built for his family after the construction of the Prophet's Mosque. She remained in her father's house (peace and blessings be upon him) for two years.

Her Second Marriage to Uthman ibn Affan (may God be pleased with them both)

When Ruqayyah passed away, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Umm Kulthum to Uthman ibn Affan, and Uthman became known as Dhu al-Nurayn (the possessor of two lights). This marriage took place in Rabi' al-Awwal of the third year of the Hijra. Umm Kulthum lived with Uthman but did not bear him any children.

Her Death (may God be pleased with her)

In the ninth year of the Hijra, in the month of Sha'ban, Umm Kulthum (may God be pleased with her) passed away at the age of 27.

On the authority of Umm Atiyyah, she said

When Umm Kulthum, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), died, he said: “Wash her an odd number of times, three or five, with water and lotus leaves, and in the last washing, add camphor or something of camphor. When you have finished, inform me.” When we had washed her, he gave us his garment and said: “Shroud her in it.” This was in the month of Sha’ban. Ali, Al-Fadl, and Usamah ibn Zayd (may Allah be pleased with them) lowered her into her grave. Abu Talhah Al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to join them, and he granted him permission.

The Messenger’s Grief at the Death of His Daughter Umm Kulthum

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was visibly saddened by the death of his daughter Umm Kulthum. He instructed the women on how to care for her and wash her body, all of which was done under his guidance (peace and blessings be upon him) from behind the door. Then he sat before the grave, his eyes overflowing with tears at her passing.
