Do not drive away those who call upon their Lord

 كنا مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ستة نفر، فقال المشركون للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: اطرد هؤلاء لا يجترؤون علينا. قال: وكنت أنا وابن مسعود ورجل من هذيل وبلال ورجلان لست أسميهما، فوقع في نفس رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ما شاء الله أن يقع فحدث نفسه، فأنزل الله عز وجل: وَلا تَطْرُدِ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُمْ بِالْغَدَاةِ وَالْعَشِيِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُ {الأنعام: 52}

God Almighty said
And do not repel those who call upon their Lord morning and evening, seeking His countenance. There is nothing upon you to account for them, nor is there anything upon them to account for you. If you were to repel them, you would be among the wrongdoers.

And do not exclude, O Prophet, from your company the weak Muslims who worship their Lord at the beginning and end of the day, seeking the face of God with their righteous deeds. You are not responsible for these poor people; their account is with God, and they have nothing to do with you. If you exclude them, you will be among those who transgress God's limits and put things in the wrong place, then he mentioned Al-Aqra’ bin Habis and Uyaynah bin Hisn and said: “And thus We have tried some of them by means of others that they may say, ‘Are these the ones upon whom Allah has bestowed favor from among us? Is not Allah most knowing of the grateful?’” (Al-An’am: 53). Then he said: “And when those who believe in Our verses come to you, say, ‘Peace be upon you. Your Lord has decreed upon Himself mercy.’” (Al-An’am: 54). He said that we approached him until we placed our knees on his knee, and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to sit with us. When he wanted to get up, he would get up and leave us, so Allah revealed: “And be patient with yourselves.” Those who call upon their Lord morning and evening, seeking His countenance. And let not your eyes pass beyond them. {Al-Kahf: 28} And do not sit with the nobles, desiring adornments of the worldly life and do not obey one whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance. Meaning: Uyaynah and Al-Aqra', and he followed his desires and his affair was ever in neglect. He said: Destruction. He said: The affair of Uyaynah and Al-Aqra'. Then he gave them an example of two men and an example of worldly life. Khabbab said: We used to sit with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and when we reached the hour in which he would get up, we would get up and leave him until he got up. Sheikh Al-Albani said: Sahih.

The reason for the revelation of this verse

It is what Muslim narrated on the authority of Sa'd, who said
We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), six men, when the polytheists said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Drive these people away so they don't dare to attack us." He said: "I was with Ibn Mas'ud, a man from Hudhayl, Bilal, and two men whom I will not name. Whatever Allah willed to happen occurred to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he reflected upon it, and then Allah, the Almighty, revealed: "And do not repel those who call
upon their Lord morning and evening, seeking His countenance." [Al-An'am: 52]

Ibn Majah narrated in Al-Sunan on the authority of Khabbab who said
“Al-Aqra’ ibn Habis Al-Tamimi and Uyaynah ibn Hisn Al-Fazari came and found the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, with Suhayb, Bilal, Ammar, and Khabbab sitting among a group of weak believers. When they saw them around the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, they looked down on them, so they came to him and secluded themselves with him, they said: We want you to make a meeting for us with you so that the Arabs may recognize our superiority. Arab delegations come to you and we feel shy to see us with these slaves. So when we come to you, have them stay away from you, and when we are done, sit with them if you wish. He said: Yes. They said: Then write us a document. He called for a piece of paper and called Ali to write, and we were sitting in a corner. Then Gabriel, peace be upon him, came down and said: {And do not repel those who call upon their Lord morning and evening, seeking His countenance. There is no account upon you for them at all, nor is there any account upon them for you. If you were to repel them, you would be among the wrongdoers.} [Al-An'am: 52]

A Look at the Noble Verse

And do not repel those who call upon their Lord
1- It is not your right, O Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, nor the right of any preacher or sheikh after the death of our Master Muhammad, to expel the poor believers from among the wealthy believers, so that the wealthy may rest and be happy. These are the ones who call upon God Almighty, and the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, has a hadith in which he says: (Saad, may God be pleased with him, saw that he had superiority over those below him, so the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Are you victorious and provided for except through your weak ones? Narrated by Al-Bukhari.) My dear brother: If you are in a crisis, give sincerely, without asking them to pray for someone who is less fortunate than you, and wait, in accordance with the words of the Messenger. (May Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him) (Will you win your battle in life except by giving someone less than you something that they need badly and you have an abundance of, or even what you necessarily have to sustain you? You will not win in this life except by their supplication for you and their sincerity to Allah the Most High, but beware of giving to those who will benefit you and leaving those who are truly in need. What do I mean? Giving to the cleaning lady unless she is truly in need or to someone who works under you at work and you see that he takes from here and there. Look for those who are truly in need and do not know who you are, and wait for the messages of heaven, for if he does not know you, Allah knows you.

In the morning and evening
Early in the morning, you may be going to work, and he is not working due to lack of education, war conditions, or other reasons, and he is glorifying God. Perhaps you do not have enough time to glorify God. Give your money, effort, or time to them, as they are more deserving of care. They glorify God Almighty in the morning and before sunset, which are two honorable times that inform their companion of something new. Always and forever, every morning carries a new mark, and perhaps the night as well. May God make it for us and you in goodness. And these two times, God Almighty tells you the reason in another verse where He says (So be patient over what they say and exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting and during periods of the night glorify [Allah] and at the ends of the night. The day, perhaps you will be satisfied. ﴾ So the goal of glorifying God at these two times is satisfaction. We do not live in happiness, but rather in contentment. The proverb says: If happiness is a moment, then contentment is life. We shout with joy at a certain victory, but two days after this joy, we smile whenever we remember it. The shouting is "happiness" and the smiling is "contentment."

They want His face
This is the crux of the matter in this noble verse: You must do something in which the name of God Almighty is mentioned in any way, meaning that you will be pointed at and they will say, "This is for our Lord." Please: Purify your intention. You must specify from the beginning that your intention is for God, not for people (hypocrisy), not for desires (desires of the soul). If you purify your intention, God will reward those with good intentions that He does not give to others. Let me give you a very well-known example: You have a brother who is not your business partner, but he is beloved, and you are the employer and you give your salary at the end of the month. Then the employees thank your brother but do not thank you, you who are the giver and bestower. You will feel resentful? If you feel resentful, how do you do that with Allah the Almighty? Also, when you are in the middle of the journey, your intentions may change for the worse, not for the better, so monitor it closely and carefully. Finally, do not forget to seek forgiveness after work due to work-discouraging injuries such as “arrogance and hypocrisy.” May Allah the Almighty protect you and us. The most important thing is that these people are poor and seek Allah’s pleasure. Who says that they seek Allah’s pleasure? The One who knows hearts and intentions is Allah and His Most High Essence, so trust in His choices, glory be to Him. As you go through life, you will find representatives of those who are close to Allah begging from what is in people’s hands. Seeing them eating food confuses people into believing that they are religious, like beggars. You will see others who want a marriage or a business deal, but they also show you that they are religious. There is another group who are wronged, those who are sincere to Allah, poor and chaste, and everyone doubts their intentions because they entered the mosque with the intention of begging or seeking a living.

This is the crux of the matter in this noble verse: You must do something in which the name of God Almighty is mentioned in any way, meaning you will be pointed out and they will say, "This is for our Lord." Then the employees thank your brother but do not thank you, the giver and bestower. Will you feel resentful?  So if you feel dissatisfied, how can you do that with God Almighty? Also, while you're halfway through your journey, your intentions may change for the worse, not the better. Monitor them closely and carefully. Finally, don't forget to seek forgiveness after work due to work-discouraging injuries such as arrogance and hypocrisy. May God Almighty protect you and us. Most importantly, these people are poor and seeking God's pleasure. Who says they seek God's pleasure? The One who knows hearts and intentions is God and His Most High Essence. There is another group who are wronged: those who are sincere to God, poor, and chaste. Everyone doubts their intentions, believing they are entering the mosque with the intention of begging or seeking a living. You have no responsibility for their actions,

As we said: Set your intentions when dealing with people, and may God grant us His protection and pardon our sins.

You have no responsibility for their actions.
Nor will they give you the keys to Paradise on the Day of Resurrection

If you expel them, you will be among the wrongdoers
Do not expel any of the poor, but observe God's limits in God's mosque or in your gathering (if it is a religious gathering at home). This means no side conversations, "The mosques are for God, so do not call upon anyone along with God," or begging inside the mosque, or anything else. And even if you expel them, you will be among the wrongdoers, and God does not love the wrongdoers. Injustice is not only darkness on the Day of Resurrection, as we are taught. Rather, there are injustices that you will inevitably see the effects of your injustice in your own life, not in the life of anyone else. May God Almighty grant us the ability to walk through this world neither as an oppressor nor as an oppressor, a rare occurrence in this life.
